A Thoughtful Blend of Tradition and Modern Living
Nestled in the heart of Waukesha County, a young family set out to transform a beloved home with deep sentimental value. Once owned by a loved one, the house held cherished memories, but its layout and functionality no longer met their needs. With a passion for gardening, canning, and home preservation, the homeowners envisioned a kitchen remodel that would support their lifestyle while maintaining the home's original character.
Expanding for an Open-Concept Kitchen & Living Space
The original layout featured a closed-off kitchen and dining room, separated by built-in cabinets that restricted flow. To create a modern, open-concept space, we removed these built-ins and eliminated a kitchen wall and part of a living room wall, dramatically enhancing connectivity between the rooms. Given the structural impact of these changes, we installed a custom beam to provide necessary support while also defining the new, open space. Now, the kitchen, dining, and living areas seamlessly blend, offering the family a more spacious and inviting environment for everyday life and entertaining.

Enhancing Light & Brightness in a Woodland Setting
Living among the woodlands of Waukesha County comes with natural beauty—but also limited sunlight. Addressing this challenge, we incorporated recessed can lighting and stylish pendant fixtures, ensuring the kitchen remains bright and welcoming year-round. Additionally, we removed outdated kitchen soffits, which originally housed mechanicals, and seamlessly integrated them within a new custom cabinetry design, complete with elegant crown molding for a polished and cohesive finish.

A Kitchen Built for Function & Style
Designed with efficiency and organization in mind, this kitchen renovation prioritizes functionality. To keep the open layout uncluttered, we strategically positioned major appliances, including the refrigerator, oven, and microwave, along a side wall. The centerpiece of the kitchen is a professional-grade gas range top, perfect for the family's canning and preserving activities. A hexagon tile backsplash adds a touch of modern texture and visual interest, balancing practicality with aesthetics.
A First Floor Refresh
To unify the newly opened space, we installed new flooring throughout the first floor, providing a fresh, modern foundation for the entire home. This update not only enhances visual continuity but also complements the kitchen’s new layout, reinforcing a sense of openness and warmth.
Bringing New Life to a Family Home
This kitchen remodel in Waukesha successfully balances history, functionality, and modern design, creating a space that supports the homeowners' passion for cooking, canning, and gathering with family. With its thoughtful layout, improved lighting, and high-end features, this kitchen is now the heart of the home—where memories will continue to be made for years to
come.
